"I came to know the Lord personally at the age of 13 and felt His calling on my life while in college. The desire to share God's love has never been deeper in my life than it is now" says Lee Fortune with sincerity. "My desire is to help bring people to a place where they can meet God face to face."
Fortune's desire to share the gospel is what propels his busy life. A husband and father of 5 children, Lee not only serves as Minister of Worship at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina, he also lends his talents to the recording industry as a producer and as a studio musician. Lee continues to be in demand as a solo artist, performing numerous concerts per year.
Beginnings...
A native of south Alabama, music has been a part of Lee Fortune's life since he can remember. Growing up in a Christian home Lee was surrounded by music, more specifically, gospel music. Lee's great-grandparents are published songwriters in the Sacred Harp style of music; his grandparents used to have “front porch pickin's” often and Lee can't remember a time that his grandfather wasn't teaching himself to play a new instrument. His mother also was very musical as she has served as church pianist on several occasions throughout the years. It's no wonder that Lee has had an interest and love for music since early childhood.
A Call to Ministry...
Lee entered into the nationally renowned music program of Troy University carrying with him not only a love of music, but a desire to serve God. While pursuing what became three areas of study (voice, percussion, and dramatic arts), Lee quickly found that opportunity. During his first semester of college, Fortune was invited to join the touring vocal group from the campus ministry which performed in churches and at conferences and became a featured vocalist. After seeing first hand the effects of this ministry, Lee knew this is what God wanted from him. "I was with this group because I just wanted to sing. Watching people's reactions to the music and the message it was as if God was showing me what was to come and saying to me this is how I am going to use you."
Measured Faith...
When Fortune finished college, he sensed that God was leading him to serve away from his hometown. Lee moved to the place where he felt God's hand directing him, Asheville, North Carolina. He went with no promise of employment and no knowledge of the area. Lee's faith was certainly put to the test and God provided every need. Since moving, Lee has served in several churches as worship pastor, and has been a vocalist, instrumentalist, worship leader, featured artist, and coordinator for several major conferences and crusades.
In 2004, Lee again was faced with a test of faith by leaving the security of his job to following God's urging to take his solo concert ministry to a new level. Lee began travelling in full-time ministry as a Christian solo artist performing over 150 concert dates a year. "To say that God provided every need during this time feels like an understatement to me," says Fortune. "Not only did He provide, He was in full control of mine and my family's life. There was no way any of it would have ever worked otherwise." Lee's solo ministry has certainly been fruitful to the kingdom having produced numerous decisions for Christ. "Sharing God's love is always the top priority" says Fortune about his concert ministry.
Lee currently serves as the Minister of Worship at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina, owns and operates InSong Productions, a multi-faceted recording studio, and continues his solo career. He has released 5 projects and written dozens of songs. Lee would love to come and share at your church or event.
